Faculty Research Portal
GOAL:
Simplify and empower the process for faculty authors publishing academic literature by providing greater autonomy, efficiency, and visibility for their work.
TACTIC:
Design and develop a user-friendly web application that enables faculty members to easily submit, manage, and publish academic research. The platform streamlines the submission and approval process while automatically building and maintaining a searchable database of published work, creating a centralized hub for the institution’s scholarly output.
By simplifying workflows and reducing administrative barriers, the system gives faculty greater control over how their research is shared while ensuring consistency, organization, and long-term scalability for the university’s digital research library.
TARGET:
- Faculty members actively engaged in publishing academic papers.
- Other researchers, scholars, and/or specialized professionals looking to advance knowledge or find research data to advance the scholarly conversation.
- Graduate students seeking research material for coursework, theses, or literature reviews.
- Other ATSU departments, faculty, and administrative staff interested in the University's output.
RESULTS:
Publishing research directly on the university’s website significantly expanded the visibility, accessibility, and impact of scholarly work. The platform allowed the institution to showcase its intellectual capital to a global audience, positioning both faculty and the university as leaders in research and innovation.
Because the content is hosted on the university’s website, it is available as open-access material—removing the paywall barriers commonly associated with academic journals. This broader accessibility allowed research to reach practitioners, policymakers, students, and the general public.
Additionally, the repository now serves as a secure, long-term archive for institutional research, preserving publications and data while ensuring they remain searchable, accessible, and protected from digital obsolescence.
